Expertise:

Dr. Rinehart has over 13 years of experience providing therapy, and specializes in the evidence based treatment of depression, anxiety, psychosis, substance use, and PTSD. She uses a humanistic approach to meet clients where they are at, and tailors cognitive behavioral and mindfulness therapies to assist clients in making empowered changes in their lives. She received her doctorate in Counseling Psychology in 2017 from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where her research focused on sexual harassment and homophobia. She also taught courses in social justice and career theory and incorporates these topics into her work with clients. A key aspect of this is exploring with clients their cultural context and how their identity impacts them and their needs. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at the New Mexico VA and her postdoctoral fellowship at the Minneapolis VA in the emphasis area of Serious Mental Illness (i.e. Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder, and Major Depressive Disorder). During her fellowship, she co-created a training for sexual harassment prevention and intervention that she provided to medical trainees and staff across the country.
Dr. Rinehart opened her private practice after working as the clinical director of a residential treatment program focused on serving veterans dealing with psychosis, trauma, substance use, and homelessness. There, she developed recovery-oriented treatment protocols that were targeted to help people who often feel underserved by our medical system. She also educated medical staff in interventions, supervised psychology trainees, and collaborated with clinics throughout the hospital.
Dr. Rinehart founded her practice in order to use her specialized skills to help individual clients directly, focusing her time on tailoring evidence based treatments to clients in search of help with getting unstuck from the problems in their lives. She cares deeply about working with each client to make empowered changes. She is honored to witness clients act with bravery to shift unhelpful patterns, increase their self-compassion, and let go of habits that no longer serve them. She is committed to ongoing learning from continuing education, reading the latest research, and from her clients themselves.
